The book of Acts is Luke’s volume two. It flows naturally out of the gospel of Luke and follows the redemption of God through the birth and building of his church through Jesus Christ. Acts does not present a perfect, pristine and pure church, but an infant, inspired, alive church, with power and devotion. The book of Acts opens with a question about the kingdom of God and Christ’s commissioning of the church, and it closes with the assurance that even under persecution, it is unstoppable. In Part 1 of this series, we will see the church born, tested, purified, strengthened, and empowered.
