Hiking with Larry and Lucinda

Saturday, Aug 13, 8 a.m.
Please contact Larry at [email protected]

Not quite going for a nice walk, but a moderate-level hike in the beautiful mountains of Colorado.

Hike location:

Square Top Lakes

The hike to the lower lake is about 4 miles round trip and fairly flat (500 ft elevation gain total). The trail is all above tree line and mostly dirt. The trailhead is at 11,500 feet. The higher elevation for August will avoid the heat! We may choose to hike to the upper lake. It is about 5 miles with 700 ft elevation gain round trip.

What to bring:
  • Low-top hiking shoes
  • Trekking poles if desired (we will have a few to loan out)
  • Hat, sunscreen, snacks, plenty of water (probably at least a liter per person)
  • Appropriate clothing layers, including a jacket or raingear (it’s Colorado)
Directions:

Meet Saturday, August 13 at the church at 8 a.m. Drive 1.5 hours to Guanella Pass, just out of Georgetown.
