So many religions and philosophies in the world, how do we know which one is the “right one”? Surely all paths lead to heaven and God anyway, as long as one obeys the “golden rule”…
Jesus said, “I am the WAY the TRUTH and the LIFE and no one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). No matter who you are, what you’ve done or where you come from, the Bible is clear that all of us can come to God through a personal relationship with His One and only Son, Jesus Christ.
All of us are born into the world dead to God spiritually. The Bible says that “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God…” (Romans 3:23). When a person recognizes that they simply cannot do life by themselves, no amount of trying or living the good life will measure up and that God sent Christ to die for our sins on the cross and one accepts this forgiveness we can be born anew, alive in God’ spirit from now through eternity.
But being a Christian is more than just having one’s sins forgiven and at some point going to heaven. It is about having the very life of Jesus Christ living inside you and eternal life beginning at the moment of receiving Christ.
When someone understands that their very spiritual identity has changed, changed behavior will follow. No one can earn salvation by being good. For how good is good enough? Only by the Grace of God are we able to enter into and keep this eternal relationship.
Isn’t it amazing to think that as a Christian, God sees us as forgiven (of all past, present and future sins), loved, accepted, pure, holy, a saint, a child of God, adopted spiritually, righteous and the list goes on. Not because of what we do or have done, but because of what God has done in and through His Son Jesus Christ! Wow—that is pretty amazing!
Just know that God made you in His image so that He could know you in a personally. It doesn’t start by trying to clean up our act and being a better person. It begins with a cry from our heart telling God that we cannot live this life any longer and that we ask God to forgive us of our sins and give us eternal life in Jesus Christ. It is not the words we use, but the attitude of our hearts. Then we exchange our plans, ways, desires and dreams for His.
Are you tired of making a mess of your life and settling for the here and now? There’s more. God loves you and He is just a conversation away.
